JILL JOHNSON, a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), came to talk with us about her practice. She typically works with clients to evaluate their past nutritional history and to identify their top areas of nutritional concern - such as preventing heart disease, losing weight, training for an athletic event, etc. As a certified practitioner, she is able to order and administer many labs and tests. She mentioned a type of energetic muscle testing for identifying food allergens, and recommended a stool test by Enterolab for identifying gluten intolerances.
For more information, or for a consultation, call Jill at 541.606.4224.

BRYNN shared yummy samples with us! She talked about how diet changes may result in losing essential components. For example, people adapting to a gluten free lifestyle may find they lack fiber. Brynn also talked about label reading and how it may be a challenge, which is why she occasionally helps people by accompanying them on their grocery store trips. She also suggested using resources (she gave a few, including herself) and looking up product reviews online before purchasing. (We all know specialty foods cost more than conventional.)

LYNN CROSBY came and spoke to O Nutrition Club about her Good Food Easy program. Many of the club's members eat whole foods due to their dietary needs and were curious in looking into a CSA, Community Supported Agriculture. Lynn's program delivers shares once a week to a number of drops in the Eugene area, including the University of Oregon. There are three sizes of shares, which depend on how many people you plan to feed with your share.
She shared with us the benefits of being involved with a CSA. Lynn also provided a handout on the "Rutgers Crop Nutrient Study" that supported the hypothesis that organic vegetables have more nutrients than their conventional counterparts.
